$100 Million NuvaRing Settlement Takes Effect
In recent drug litigation news, a $100 million settlement handed down by U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel of St. Louis, MO last February has finally been able to take effect based on a 95% opt-in rate by participants of the suit against Merck & Co., the makers of the NuvaRing birth control product targeted in the suit. The settlement will be divided amongst the 3,800 claimants named in the suit. The claimants argued that NuvaRing was not tested properly and that the potential of harmful side effects were not openly shared with users of the product.
